Recording Not Everybody’s Gold
Don’t let any smiles fool ya…
We really were starting to take ourselves serious. Sad. Kevin at his drums during the recording of NEG. Mike hiding behind his Joe Pass guitar during the NEG sessions. Recording mandolin during the NEG sessions.
Bill used this to paint Carl’s picture on the NEG album cover. This was used by Bill to paint Kevin’s picture on the NEG album cover. Bill used this picture to paint Mike’s image on the NEG album cover. Bill used this picture to paint Pat’s image on the NEG album cover.
These are a few of my favorite things. Mike with a fairly common facial expression during the NEG sessions.
Live Shots
The newly reformed band, after a show in 1997. Pat playing his trusty Musician at Ziggy’s for the ROM release show. SH, posing for some derranged groupie. Carl playing piano at a park in Kentucky, mid 1997. Live again. The band live (and Carl with the flu) at Cafe Milano in Nashville, mid 2000. This is a great close-up of Mike playing guitar at the Robbery of Murder release party. Certainly the most digestible photo ever taken of the band. Mike, newly rejoined with Salem Hill after a 5 year absence. He looks…uh…thrilled? Another post show shot, 1997.

Sheesh, was that a wide angle lens?
A few other shots
Carl warbling during the Catatonia sessions, late 1996. Salem Hill circa 1993. Nice hair guys! Carl flailing on drums for his solo album, Spring of 2001. More flailing.
First Album Renderings
These are colored pencil sketches that William Neagle made as candidates for the first album’s cover.
We chose the ship, but I think Pat preferred the animals…
…and my favorite…
